As you are aware, NBCUniversal, in coordination with Caltrans, is building a new US 101 Southbound on-ramp at Universal Studios Boulevard and we want to make sure that the communities surrounding the project area have the most up-to-date information.
Construction began several weeks ago and the pace of work will be increasing over the next few weeks. Just north of the LA Fitness Building near Universal Studios Boulevard, you will begin to see tree and brush removal, grading, larger construction equipment, and other construction activity. Additionally, there will be occasional late-night lane closures next to the construction area (generally after midnight).
Finally, Caltrans will be posting signs at the Barham/Bennett southbound off-ramp and the Lankershim/Regal southbound on-ramp stating that there will be intermittent late at night closures over the course of construction. Please note that the intermittent nighttime closure of the ramps is not the permanent closure of the Barham/Bennett southbound off-ramp. Closure of the Barham/Bennett southbound off-ramp is not expected to occur until early 2016.
At this time, we do not expect any significant impacts during peak hours on the surrounding roadways or freeway. In the future, if you have any questions or concerns or would like the most updated information you may do the one of the following:
